Thank you for taking time out of your day to read a little bit “About” me. I appreciate you.
Without going into great detail, I was rushed to the emergency room (ER) in late September after a 4 day camping trip in Capitol Reef National Park in beautiful Utah. I proceeded to spend the following three days sedated, on a ventilator and in a Posey Bed in the NeuroSciences Intensive Care Unit (ICU) because of the whole episode. I was discharged from the hospital several days later feeling as though my world had been turned upside down…and in a way, it had been.
Recently, I found myself making an attempt at podcasting. Each of my podcasts began and ended with me speaking the phrase, “Welcome to the first day of the rest of your life…” While the past few weeks have been filled with challenges, I share my story here as a way to help me deal with the reality that is my life. Moreover, I share my story here with you in an attempt to inspire and motivate those who also feel challenged with life on life’s terms.
Reflecting on the time spent unconscious, sedated and under intubation – simply waking up was a blessing. Since being released from the hospital almost two weeks ago and experiencing a multitude of transition in life, I have experienced tremendous gratitude in almost everything. I experience gratitude with each day that I wake up. I experience gratitude with the supportive friends and family that I have. I experience gratitude in ways that I never have before. Never in my life have I felt more strongly about something that I have been saying for the just the past month or two than I have with this:
“Welcome to the first day of the rest of your life.”
Take a moment and walk with me. Let us not be led by fear…rather, let us take fear by the hand and walk with it, side by side. Let’s enjoy this journey together.

First of all, I would like to thank you for taking a moment and read a bit “About” me.
After writing this lengthy section detailing out my life and who I am…I decided to simplify. I’m a regular guy in my mid-30’s. I am single, have a stable career and for the most part am very much like you. Born and raised in Ohio, my wanderlust led me to live and work in many different states for many different reasons. As I write this today, my life has brought me to Southern California in San Diego County.
Living the good life in North County, I find myself reflecting on life through this blog. Over the past couple of years, I have experienced a tremendous amount of transition. For a number of reasons, I quit facebook in July 2012 and decided to dedicate more time to this blog. Rather than write a whole complicated “About” section, I’ll simply invite you to check in my blog every once in a while…
There’s always something interesting or wacky taking place upstairs in the gray matter! I’ll do my best to capture some of it and share it with you here. I hope you enjoy. Stay tuned.
